PENNSYLVANIA – A preliminary Ebola test is underway in P
According to Penn Medicine, a patient has the criteria to be suspected of Ebola. The incident took place at the Hospital of the Univeristy of Pennsylvania.
Details were not disclosed due to federal HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) such as the patient’s name or age. There was also no immediate comment as to whether the patient has traveled to outside of the United States recently.
The patient is currently under strict EVD isolation protocols, meaning family and friends may not have direct contact with the patient. Only high-trained nurses and doctors are permitted to enter the isolation room, with the proper PPE (personal protective equipment).
