EAST FRANKLIN TWP, Pa. – A 21-year-old IUP student died in a vehicle accident, according to official reports.
Brian Henry Swatt, 21, was an IUP student and staff member of Joe Pittman, died after a vehicle he was driving ended up over an embankment near Morris Tire on Butler Road, Armstrong County.
Swatt was not wearing a seatbelt according to a coroners report. Swatt was originally from Mayfield in Lackawanna County, Pa – but was in the area due to his work and schooling in Indiana County at IUP.
Officials believe Swatt was approaching Butler Road when he rolled through a stop sign, and into a heavily wooded hillside. The vehicle landed upside down on its roof. It is believed Swatt wrecked over 24-hours prior to being found by officials. Swatt likely crash around 2 a.m. on Friday morning, but his body was discovered around noon on Saturday afternoon.
Swatt was a reported missing person on Friday.
Members of the East Franklin Township VFD, Kittanning #1, Kittanning #6 EMS, and Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene. The autopsy will be performed by the Armstrong County Coroners office.
