PITTSBURGH, Pa. (KNNP) – One of Pittsburgh’s “center of attractions” has been Kennywood, since it’s grand opening on May 30th, 1899 in West Mifflin.
The ‘Steel Curtain’ is the newest large ride at the park, which opened publicly earlier this year. But after several days of downtime, Kennywood has made a post on their Facebook page indicating the ride will be closed with no known opening date.
The Facebook post indicates the ‘Steel Curtain’ is a unique prototype ride, and that periodic downtime is not unusual.
On Saturday, the ride was closed due to “maitenance reasonings”. Nick Paradise, the park’s media spokesman, stated to CBS News that the ride will be closed until further notice as testing of the ride will continue.
Visitors at the park reported the “Phantom’s Revenge” has been stopped as well. Paradise said the ride had a single stoppage on Sunday and a single stoppage on Monday, which only lasted for a few minutes.
KNNP-TV Pittsburgh will update this article periodically.
