ARKANSAS (KNNP) – Walmart is trending socially after a new press release was issued from CEO Doug McMillion. There major parts taken from the press release is that Walmart is against firearms, atleast handguns.
Walmart will stop selling all .223 and 5.56mm ammo – commonyl found in hunting rifles and sport AR-15 long rifles.
Walmart will also stop selling handgun ammunition entirely, much like Dicks Sport Goods has started to do.
Walmart is also asking everyone to not open-carry in their stores anymore, unless you are an on-duty law enforcement officer.
Walmart reportedly started to “unlawfully” require patrons to be 21-years-old to purchase long-rifle ammo, even though federal law mandates the patron to be 18-years-old.
“After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons”, said McMillion in the press release.
McMillion contined with a prompt warning, “we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores or Sam’s Clubs in states where “open carry” is permitted – unless they are authorized law enforcement officers.” However, users with a conceal carry permit is allowed to carry but must not be seen or brandished.
Walmart is also in support of “red light takebacks”, where the government can lawfully take away weapons just by reports or a fear. McMillion concluded “we encourage our nation’s leaders to move forward and strengthen background checks and to remove weapons from those who have been determined to pose an imminent danger“.
